Erzähl' uns ein bisschen von dir. Was machst und verkaufst du?
Derzeit mache ich Schmuck - vor allem Armbänder, aber auch ein paar Ringe und Ketten. Für die nächsten Monate plane ich allerdings auch Perlenmischungen - ich drehe selber Lampwork-Perlen - und andere selbstgemachten Schmuckkomponenten. a

Welche Ziele hast du für deinen Etsy-Shop?
Wow - Leute von meinen Schmuckstücken zu begeistern. Ich bin schon oft von Leuten auf meine Stücke angesprochen worden und hatte nie einen Shop, an den ich sie verweisen konnte. Das wollte ich ändern.
Was ist ein Bestseller in deinem Etsy-Shop?
Da ich gerade erst angefangen habe, muss sich das noch zeigen.

Wie würdest du deinen Stil beschreiben?
Bunt und ab und an ein wenig abgetredeht. Ich liebe Sari Seide und Kupfer und irgendwie finden sich diese Materialen sehr oft in meinen Schmuckstücken wieder.

Wo und wie arbeitest du?
Am Wochenende und abends. Da ich voll berufstätig bin, lässt sich das nicht anders machen. Ist aber ein schöner Ausgleich und somit jammern auf hohem Niveau.

Was würdest du dir für die Entwicklung von Etsy in Deutschland wünschen?
Dass diese schöne Plattform etwas bekannter wird. Ich habe derzeit den Eindruck, dass viele etsy noch nicht kennen. Wenn sich das ändern würde - zumindest in meinem Freundeskreis arbeite ich dran - wäre das grandios.

Worin siehst du mögliche Vorteile für dich, Teil des German Etsy Street Teams zu sein?
Mit anderen deutschen Designerin/Anbietern in Kontakt zu kommen und sich auszutauschen. Ich bin ein Riesenfan von Netzwerken und Teambuilding. Gemeinsam lässt sich doch viel mehr, viel schneller erreichen.

Schaufensterbummel im Herbst

Huch, und plötzlich ist es schon Herbst! Die Tage werden länger und kühler, morgens verzieht sich der Nebel nur noch langsam, dafür ist Kratzen am Auto angesagt. Aber wie schön ist es, aus der Kühle in die warme Wohnung zu kommen, einen Tee oder Kaffee aufzusetzen und es sich gemütlich zu machen?! So schön kuschelig und gemütlich sind die eigenen vier Wände nur in der dunklen Jahreszeit. Und was gibt es besseres gegen Winterfrust, als sich selbst und die Lieben mit einem Paket von einem unserer Germany Team Mitglieder zu beschenken?

Oktober Giveaway - 'Many Pink Dahlias' Belt from Zafran!

Über Das Produkt:
Alle meine Produkte sind echt handgemacht – mit digitalen und analogen Werkzeugen. Ich entwerfe textile Accessoires, die ich mit meinen eigenen Textildesigns bedrucke. Am Anfang steht immer das Fotografieren mit meiner Nikon D 60. Diese Fotos sind mein Fundus und meine Inspirationsquelle. Sie animieren mich zu meinen typischen farbenfrohen und verspielten Mustern.

Von Anfang an habe ich mit einem ganz speziellen Textildruckverfahren gearbeitet. Ich bin dadurch in der Lage, den ganzen Druckprozess selbst zu machen, ich habe also die volle Kontrolle über die Herstellung. Analog wird’s dann an der Nähmaschine, dem Bügeleisen und beim Finish.

Mein Givewaway des Monats ist der Hip Belt „Many Pink Dahlias“. Er passt für alle Größen, ist 4cm breit und die Oberfläche wurde mit einer dünnen Lackschicht geschützt für bessere Haltbarkeit. Das Muster bildet eine pink-weiße Dahlie, die ich vor zwei Jahren fotografiert habe – im Oktober. Deshalb dachte ich, das ist ja perfekt für das Etsy German Street Team October Giveaway!

About the Item:
All my items are truly handmade using both digital and analogue tools. I create accessories that feature my own textile designs. I start by taking images with a Nikon D 60. These images are the pool and source of inspiration, that animates me to create my characteristic vivid and playful patterns.

From the beginning I've been working with a special kind of digital textile printing, that allows me to do all printing myself. This way I have full control of the entire manufacturing. The analogue part of the process is sewing, ironing and finishing.

This month I will give away a hip belt that's called „Many Pink Dahlias“. It's one size, 4 cm in width and it is finished with a touch of varnish to make it more durable. It features an image of a pink/ white Dahlia that I originally took two years ago - in the month of October. So I thought the belt would be perfect for the Etsy German Street Team October Giveaway.

Summit Brainstorm

You may have heard that Etsy is organizing a two day conference for makers and micro-entrepreneurs of Europe (most likely) in May of 2011 in Berlin. The conference will focus on business, sustainability, and the DIY community. The goals of the conference are to educate and support micro-entrepreneurs and to help organize and connect the European DIY community. This is not a money making undertaking, and costs for participants will be very low.

I was invited along with several other people to participate in an advisory panel to discuss potential conference topics. This last Saturday brainstorming session was hosted by Matt and Benedikta at the Etsy Lab in Berlin. We spent several hours discussing what potential topics could be: everything from clinics on tax and business advice on a country specific basis to defining a manifesto. We shared ideas about who might be interesting speakers, what the cost should be, and how the conference should be structured. Those in the group who have attended many conferences also shared both positive and not-so-great experiences and what Etsy should try to repeat and/or avoid. Their were lots of great ideas being tossed around and it's sure to be a really fantastic conference. Stay tuned!

Ihr wisst wahrscheinlich schon, dass Etsy eine zwei Tage lange Konferenz für Kunsthandwerker/innen und Kleinunternehmer/innen in Europa plant. Die Konferenz wird in Berlin eventuell im Mai, 2011 stattfinden. Der Hauptfokus der Konferenz ist geschäft, Nachhaltigkeit, Gewerbe und die DIY Community Europas. Ziele der Konferenz sind die Unterstützung und Ausbildung europäischer Kleinunternehmer/innen und verschiedene DIY Communities in Kontakt zu bringen. Etsy beabsichtigt mit der Konferenz keinen Gewinn zu machen, entsprechend werden die Eintrittspreise relativ niedgrig sein.

Ich wurde eingeladen, neben eine Gruppe von anderen Leuten, als Teil eines Advisory Panels potenzielle Konferenzthemen zu diskutieren. Am letzten Samstag haben Benedikte und Matt eine Brainstorming Session im Etsy Labs in Berlin gehosted. Wir haben fur mehr als vier stunden geredet und überlegt welche themen für die Konferenz am interessantesten sind, z.B. Steuertrainings für spezifische Länder bis zum Schreiben eines Manifestot. Wir haben unseren Ideen zu möglichen Rednern, Eintrittspreisen und Erfaruhngen aus anderen Konferenzen mitgeteilt. Es war eine spannender Austauschen von Ideen, und ich bin sicher es wird eine klasse Konferenz.
